Magomed Umalatov rebounds from first career loss with highlight walk-off KO

Magomed Umalatov has had a rough go of late, falling just short to Shamil Musaev in last year’s Welterweight World Championship and missing out on this year’s tournament after missing weight. The Russian master of sports and former regional welterweight champion has found plenty of success at 170 in PFL, though he’s never tasted PFL gold. Before his loss to Musaev, Umalatov was 17-0, and he currently has 12 wins via stoppage – 10 of which have come in the first round.

When Anthony Ivy gets a win, he seems to do it big, as all 15 of his pro victories have come before the final bell. Ivy enters tonight on a seven-fight win streak and a 2-0 record in the PFL. Ivy fought in a showcase bout during the 2024 Playoffs, submitting Jaleel Willis this past August.

Ivy comes forward with a couple of kicks. Umalatov flashes the jab. Low front kick from Ivy. High kick from Ivy misses. Ivy goes for a takedown, but Umalatov sprawls to prevent it. Umalatov with a solid knee to the body, and Ivy appears hurt. Umalatov has a strong headlock. Umalatov with a solid top position, and he’s landing some ground-and-pound. Peterson Roll by Ivy, but Umalatov keeps the top position. Ivy looks to grab one of Umalatov’s legs, and he gets back to his feet, pressing Umalatov against the fence.

Umalatov with a knee up the middle. Ivy with a strong right hand. Umalatov with a short little left hook to catch Ivy coming in. Another quick left hook, and that faceplants Ivy! Ivy is done! Walk-off KO!
