Ahmed Albrahim dominates with ground game, hammerfists his way to finish

Ahmed Albrahim has been successful as a grappler, having earned an MCL Riyadh No-Gi title and an ADCC Open Middle East silver medal. In 2023, Albrahim defeated Jamal Omar, Abdulaziz Shaker, and Mohammad Assoum to become the Saudi Games champion. Albrahim, however, enters today’s contest off a loss to Oussama Ouasmi earlier this year.

Mohamed Nabil is a former bodybuilder who trains out of the Nightmare Sports Academy in his native Egypt. He enters tonight 2-0 in amateur MMA.

Round 1

Low kick from Nabil. High kick from Nabil doesn’t connect. We’ve got a battle of clinch control, and Albrahim pins Nabil against the SmartCage, answering to Nabil’s stopping of a takedown attempt. Another effort by Albrahim, and this time he gets the takedown. Nabil looks to lock up an arm, but Albrahim spins out of it and looks to do damage from side control.

Albrahim stands up to get out of another submission attempt, and then he gets back into side control. Nabil gets back to his feet, but Albrahim looks to catch him in a guillotine. Cow-catcher used by Albrahim to stop a takedown attempt by Nabil. Short knee by Albrahim. Some hammerfists by Albrahim. Albrahim brings Nabil down again and lands a few follow-up shots before the horn.

Round 2

High kick from Nabil doesn’t connect. Nabil looks for a combination and pins Albrahim against the fence. Albrahim with takedown defense. He looks to take the back but ends up pinning him against the fence. Some strong shots by Albrahim from side control. Nabil trying to respond from the bottom. Albrahim appears to have a crucifix in, and he’s landing to Nabil’s head.

Albrahim looks to be going for an Americana. Nabil spins out of it, but Albrahim gets back control. Nabil shakes him off and goes for a takedown of his own. Albrahim tries for a sweep, and while unsuccessful, he still ends up on top. Another Americana attempt, but Nabil blocks it. Some more hammerfists by Albrahim. Nabil is covering up, but Albrahim is raining fists down now! The ref steps in! This one’s done!
