Nawras Abzakh stuns with sub-minute submission to capture PFL MENA Bantamweight Tournament Title
December 5, 2025 | Tom Albano
Nawras Abzakh has found championship success in MMA already, having picked up a flyweight title and bantamweight title on the regional circuit. He comes into tonight’s bout with nine finishes to his name, including seven by submission. After falling to Ali Taleb last year, Abzakh has rebounded by going through Ali Yazbeck and Moktar Benkaci to reach this year’s title fight at bantamweight.
Islam Youssef has also found success with a Qadya bantamweight title in Egypt. He enters tonight with a six-fight win streak, as well as five finishes in his seven victories thus far. After taking out Benjamin Ghahreman with a spectacular flying kick in his PFL debut, Youssef reached tonight’s final off a win over Xavier Alaoui.
Which of these two men will be the 2025 PFL MENA Bantamweight Tournament Champion?
Round 1
Abzakh comes forward but Youssef lands a counter to Abzakh’s combination. Abzakh with forward pressure, and Youssef level changes. Abzakh locks up a quick guillotine! Youssef with a big slam takedown – but it doesn’t work! It tightens instead of frees! Youssef is done! Either the tightening of the choke made him pass out or he knocked himself out from the slam.
