Chris Mixan shifts momentum suddenly with blasting right hand, scores first-round TKO

Kendly St. Louis enters tonight with an 11-4 record and an eight-fight win streak. “The Highlander” appeared on the PFL Challenger Series twice in 2023, defeating Nick Alley and Paulo Henrique Laia. St. Louis comes into this contest off a third-round submission win over Mukhamed Berkhamov this past June in Nashville.

Chris Mixan is 6-1 as a pro with a regional welterweight title to his credit. Mixan fought twice in the PFL in 2022, finishing Nathan Pierce on the Challenger Series that year before a split decision win over Christian Stigenberg in a showcase bout. He comes into tonight’s bout off a first-round finish of Joey Hart in January.

Round 1

A couple of early shots from St. Louis. St. Louis with low kicks. Jabs from both men. Calf kick by St. Louis. Both men with jabs again. St. Louis grabs a hold of Mixan near the fence and gets to his back. Mixan tries to escape and does so. Left hand by Mixan. Combination by St. Louis. St. Louis landing body shots. Another low kick by St. Louis. St. Louis with pressure, getting Mixan to the fence. Mixan shoves him off but he eats a front kick to the body. St. Louis works the calf kicks. Body kick by St. Louis. St. Louis with light jabs. Right hand by St. Louis.

Left hands from both men. Right hand for St. Louis. Left hand by Mixan. The two trade, with St. Louis coming forward with pressure. Low front kick and a combination by St. Louis. Low kick and a left hand from St. Louis. Mixan with a straight right that sits down St. Louis! St. Louis works his way back up. Mixan lands another right hand and drops St. Louis again! He follows St. Louis to the ground, and St. Louis locks him up in the guard. Mixan postures up and looks to do some damage with ground-and-pound. St. Louis trying to lock up an armbar it seems, as Mixan continues to land. The ref steps in!
