Bryce Meredith had a solid wrestling career as a youth, winning state championships all four years of high school and earning All-American status three times at the University of Wyoming. Meredith, who also was an NCAA finalist twice and a Big 12 champion, enters tonight 6-0 in MMA, including victories over Brandon Carrillo and Miguel Peimbert in Bellator last year. Meredith made his PFL debut earlier this year, defeating Ty Johnson.

 

Jon MaCalolooy, spotting a 4-1 record, will be competing tonight for the first time in 12 and a half years. MaCalolooy grew up in a family of combat sports athletes, with his fathers and uncle being boxers in the Philippines and his brother awarding him a black belt in Kajukenbo. MaCalolooy’s last fight came in April 2012, defeating Raul Estrada for his third consecutive win.

 

Will Meredith continue his solid unbeaten run, or will MaCalolooy pull off a shocking upset in his MMA return?

 

 

Round 1

 

The two clash kicks. MaCalolooy lands a round kick to the body. Meredith pressures MaCalolooy to the fence and the two trade, with Meredith landing the better strikes. MaCalolooy with a low kick. MaCalolooy ends up getting the first takedown, getting into guillotine position. Meredith easily shakes him off. MaCalolooy gets to Meredith’s back on the feet before turning and landing a head kick that wobbles Meredith! Meredith recovers and looks to work a small combination. Meredith is in on a takedown against the fence. MaCalolooy gets to striking with his back against the fence. Meredith with another takedown attempt.

 

The two against the fence, Meredith looks to figure-four MaCalolooy’s legs. Meredith now looks to ride and get to MaCalolooy’s back. Meredith gets a hook in and lands with ground-and-pound. Meredith gets a choke and manages to flatten out MaCalolooy! MaCalolooy is out!
