Adam Borics striking, takedown defense helps him earn edge in majority decision win

Jeremy Kennedy began training Brazilian jiu-jitsu at 13, earning a black belt under Bibiano Fernandes. He’s used his jiu-jitsu experience toward success in MMA, going on to compete in some of the biggest stages in the sport, and entering tonight with a 19-5 record. The Xtreme Couture product has had a bit of a rough stretch of late, losing his last three straight, including his PFL debut against Movlid Khaybluaev this past April.
Adam Borics found success in the kickboxing world before joining MMA, where he’s since gone on to become a regional featherweight champion. Borics has won 19 of his 22 pro MMA bouts since turning pro in 2014, and he’s once challenged for the Bellator Featherweight World Championship. Borics was also unsuccessful in his PFL debut, losing to 2023 PFL Featherweight World Champion Jesus Pinedo.

Borics lands a body shot. A left hand to the head by Borics. Short elbow by Borics. Kennedy with a triangle around the legs. Borics continues to press, driving Kennedy hard into the ground. Borics might be setting up an arm-triangle. Kennedy tries to use his hips to get away, but Borics is still hunting for the submission. Kennedy is on top now and he’s out of the hold. Round 2
Kennedy immediately goes in for a takedown, driving Borics into the fence. Kennedy works and gets Borics down. Kennedy with wrist control, looking for the seat belt position. Kennedy getting into a backpack position now. Kennedy is sinking in a body triangle, and he’s taking the back. Kennedy might be looking to threaten Borics’s neck. It’s a hand fight on the ground now. Kennedy lands with the left hand.
Kennedy continues to work over the head of Borics with punches from the left hand. A call for more action. Kennedy continues with small punches from the left hand to the head of Adam Borics. Borics not doing much to escape here. Kennedy looks to threaten the choke again. Borics seems content to just defend the position and work through Kennedt’s punches. Jabs from both men. A clinch from Borics, but Kennedy fires an elbow on the break. Uppercut from Borics. Both land a left hand. Borics with a jab. Strong combination from Borics. Kennedy with a clinch, but Borics escapes. Uppercut from Borics misses, and Kennedy connects with some dirty boxing. Another clinch battle. Strong combination from Borics. Kennedy reaches and goes for a takedown attempt. Borics landing standing elbows as Kennedy presses him against the fence. Kennedy changes the takedown techniques he’s trying. Kennedy tries to lift, but Borics is defending it well.
