Injury Sees Mohammad Alaqraa Lock Up Second Straight PFL MENA Finals Spot In Seconds

After coming up short in last year’s championship bout against Omar El Dafrawy, losing his undefeated record in the process, Mohammad Alaqraa eyes a spot back to the Finals in this year’s competition. A judo black belt and former IBJJF National Jiu-Jitsu Champion, Alaqraa has eight wins in his MMA career, including three finishes. He was victorious by unanimous decision in his first-round matchup in May, defeating Omar Hussein.

Ayman Galal earned numerous accolades in Wushu Sanda, including nine African titles, three Arab titles, four World Cup titles, and four World titles. Galal has four wins in MMA so far, including three finishes. Galal lost his First Round matchup against Mohamed Zarey, but the result was overturned to a no-contest, and this allowed Galal to advance and gain a second chance in this tournament.

Who will move on to face Badreddine Diani in this year’s PFL MENA welterweight title bout?

Round 1

The two are feinting to start. Alaqraa with a left jab. Wait, what the heck just happened?!? Alaqraa landed a kick to the thigh, and Galal goes down, seemingly out. Alaqraa follows up with a little ground-and-pound, and this one is done just like that!

It looks like Galal may have suffered an injury on that kick.

Mohammad Alaqraa is back in the PFL MENA Finals!

OFFICIAL RESULT

Mohammad Alaqraa def. Ayman Galal via TKO (injury) (R1, 0:21) in a Welterweight Semifinal Bout.
