Hassan Ahmed Moustafa survives early knockdown to take split decision win

Abdulaziz Bin Moammar may be in position to be the next breakout MMA star from Saudi Arabia, thanks to his competitive combat sports background. Bin Moammar is an experienced combat Sambo and jiu-jitsu practitioner, as well as finding success in Wushu Sanda and boxing. Bin Moammar fought at the first PFL MENA event this year in May, scoring a decision win over Fares Hamdani.

Hassan Ahmed Moustafa is ranked sixth of active Egyptian amateur lightweights. Moustafa, who makes his first PFL appearance tonight, is 3-1 on the circuit. He comes into tonight off a loss to Ahmed Ashraf last year.

Will it be another amateur win for Bin Moammar? Or will Moustafa pull off a major upset?

Round 1

Moustafa tries to come out aggressive, as the two exchange strikes early. Moustafa connects with the left hand before pressing Bin Moammar into the fence. Moustafa lands a couple of inside knees to the legs. The two move around the fence, but Moustafa grabs the fence and is warned. Knees to the legs again by Moustafa. Bin Moammar looks to go for some ground-and-pound, but Moustafa threatens a triangle! It’s around the head, but Bin Moammar passes the guard. Bin Moammar goes for an armbar, but Moustafa avoids it! Bin Moammar with some ground-and-pound before Moustafa gets back to his feet and presses Bin Moammar into the fence. Moustafa scores a takedown and ends the round on top.
